Located at the very top of the head, the crown chakra (Sahasrara) is the centre of higher states of consciousness and intuition. The seventh chakra is represented by a deep purple colour and sometimes pure white. Its symbol is the lotus flower. It is also sometimes known as a thousand-petaled lotus. The most subtle chakra, this chakra represents pure consciousness, radiating the remaining chakra through its state of awareness.
This chakra lies at the top of the head or just above the head, sitting like a crown. This is where the crown chakra gets its name. It is associated with the pituitary gland, pineal, and hypothalamus, working to regulate the endocrine system. This chakra is also often linked to the nervous system and the brain.
What does this chakra represent and what are the signs of an imbalanced seventh chakra? Let’s take a look.
A Guide to the Crown Chakra
The crown chakra governs your ability to understand yourself and your spirituality on a deeper level. This is where your awareness comes from – your ability to think beyond the ordinary and connect to your higher self. It is your ability to connect to what is sacred as well as your innate wisdom. It is the very essence of awakening.
When this chakra is blocked, you might experience:
- Feelings of isolation and struggles to connect with people
- A lack of direction in life
- Struggles to fulfil goals
- Battles to learn and absorb information
- An overly rigid perspective
- A feeling of disconnect from your higher self
- Nerve pain and neurological issues
- Headaches and migraines
- Problems with sleep
- Depression and other mood issues
Meditation, yoga, and affirmations can all help you balance this chakra. Some of the affirmations to use during your meditation include the following:
I honour the Divine within me.
I trust my intuition.
I release all my limited thoughts.
I trust that my higher purpose is being fulfilled.
I know that all is well in my world
You can also use essential oils such as frankincense, sandalwood, and rose. Crystals to use for your meditation include amethyst, clear quartz, and moonstone. Try burning oils in a diffuser as you do deep breathing exercises with your chosen crystal or try an awakening yoga practice that stimulates this chakra.
