What Are the Benefits of a Vision Board?

5 Surprising Benefits of a Vision Board

    October 8, 2019 · Self Awareness

From reaffirming your goals to finding clarity, there are many benefits of a vision board. Until I attended a vision board workshop last year in 2018, my experience of vision boards were limited to Pinterest ‘wish’ boards. My intention-setting journey had begun and I was in the perfect mind-frame to start learning how to see the magic of vision boards in action.

5 Surprising Benefits of a Vision Board

I did my workshop at The Creative Space with Sonja. Run by one of the best humans I know, Sonja McKaiser, the workshop was a game changer on so many levels. I learned how to put my dreams onto paper (literally!) and how to encourage the manifesting process through visualisation.

If you are wondering about the benefits of a vision board, keep reading to find out what I have discovered through my own vision board journey.

What Are the Benefits of a Vision Board?

Vision boarding offers a way to turn your dreams and goals into reality. Whether made at home or at a workshop, ideas and dreams are mindfully put down onto paper, leaving you with a visual representation of what you want to manifest. My vision board is positioned over my desk, where I can see it every single day.

    Vision Board Workshop

There are many benefits of a vision board. Here’s how my vision board has helped me find clarity and focus:

    1/ Discovery.

Sometimes, you may be battling to find your dream in the first place. You may have some idea but you have not been able to find any way to give it a name or a face. Using a visual medium such as a physical vision board can be a great way to discover (or rather uncover) your innermost dreams.

    2/ Expression.

You may also be battling to put those dreams into words, at least in a way that you can explain. You might want to help others in a way that is not easily summed up in words. Finding images that represent this vision can help you express your goals more easily than writing them down.

    3/ Clarity.

This one is a no-brainer, of course. There is something about putting conscious thought into your goals and creating a board that shows them in full colour that helps you refine your goals and find greater focus.

    4/ Courage.

It may not seem like an obvious benefit. Vision boarding also helps you find courage, though. Once you have expressed that dream, you may find that you finally have the courage to start taking the first steps towards turning your dream into reality.

    5/ Accountability.

Finally, having a board that shows your dreams makes you accountable. It’s hard to ignore your dreams when you have a vision board to look at every day, reminding you that YOU’VE GOT THIS.

How a Vision Board Can Change Your Life

Sonja’s life-changing workshop takes place in her beautiful light and plant-filled space on the Northern Atlantic Seaboard of Cape Town. The workshops are held on Saturday mornings and run for five hours. Refreshments and snacks are served during the break.
